Why I do what I do

I just wanted to check in and tell you what’s up because maybe you wanna know… Why do I love Pilates? Why do I offer Lifestyle Coaching services and Motivational Speaking? These are valid questions, and if they were on the tip of your tongue then wonder no more! I’m here to put your mind to rest.

I started Pilates when I was around 20, I followed a $9.99 DVD that I bought from Big W for about 3 years. I bought said DVD because at the time I was experiencing chest pains and thought I should do something to ‘get fit’ but the trouble was that even a walk around the block would bring on the pains, so I had to be choosey. I did at least 20 minutes of Pilates a day, a couple of days a week over the course of a couple of years. During this time, I broke up with my then-boyfriend and was diagnosed with Generalised Anxiety Disorder. There was a period during that break up where I didn’t really do anything which was of benefit to my body, this is where the anxiety got VERY bad and was diagnosed. I picked my act up eventually and got back on track. Pilates daily + weekly Psychologist appointments + eating better = TOTAL life transformation. This is where my addiction to mindset, self-love, self-improvement and positivity was born.

So, after I picked myself up off the ground, I was living by myself with my cat and my world was a million-fold better. I was learning what was healthy, what wasn’t. What worked for me, what didn’t. By this stage my heart and lungs had been cleared of any issues, and so I was trying all sorts of different fitness training from boxing, to swimming, to Yoga (of course I was always doing Pilates), to HIIT. I was a whole new person. This is when people started gravitating toward me and asking me how I did X, and what I did to do Y, how did I cure Z. And of course, I would answer them to the best of my knowledge, and people would come back and thank me and tell me what they had achieved. It made me so unbelievably happy to be able to help them, just by sharing my own personal experiences. Eventually, after about 2ish years of this happening I completed my Certification in Life Coaching to make sure I was doing right by those who were coming to me for help.

And that is how I got to where I am. I fell in love with how Pilates helped me and made me feel, so I shared it with the world, and the world kept asking me for more (cue the motivational speaking due to the value of all of my other life experiences). And I believe that is when you know you’re on the right path, when it happens so naturally…

It took a while (an embarrassing number of years) to figure out this is my calling. Though I’ll never stop expanding my knowledge, I can’t wait to finish my bachelor’s in nutrition + maybe a few subjects in Psychology. I just want to grow and learn and share my experiences. I love that I can help people just by being honest. It’s funny, because I remember in one of my first couple of jobs out of school, I was told that my attitude would get in the way of my success – but my attitude is what has gotten me to where I am! I’m upfront, and a little brutal sometimes, but it’s never to be rude, it’s to be totally 1000% honest.

I hope this has helped to show you where my passions have come from, and maybe filled you in a little on why I want to share them with you. If you have more questions, hit me with them! Otherwise, you can jump into a 20 or 30-minute Pilates program by clicking here OR commit to a coaching session with me here.

See you soon, A xo
